Reclaiming Compassion for Mother Earth

I grew up in the countryside, surrounded from a young age by nature, trees, rivers, streams, and mountains. Life was lived in deep awareness of the changing seasons. We welcomed the first buds of spring after long winters, listened for the return of birdsong in the early mornings, and felt the anticipation of sunshine and longer days in Summer. Autumn brought rich, multicoloured landscapes before we settled once again into the warmth of open fires for Winter. Nature and her rhythms were simply a part of life.

It wasn’t until many years later, during my Feminine Awakening journey, that I truly understood the full depth of our connection to Mother Earth as an extension of ourselves and as a living, breathing being that we can communicate with and draw great wisdom from. We are Nature and She is us. I woke up to the fact that every species on Earth is interconnected within the great web of life. Her landscapes mountains, rivers, valleys mirror our own bodies. The feminine curves of mountain peaks echo our own forms, and the flow of her rivers reflects the blood moving through our veins. Here in Ireland or the Sacred land of Ériú, we can experience this feminine beauty everywhere in the natural landscape and is a reminder of the importance of reconnecting to and honouring the feminine.

With this awareness also comes a natural awakening of deep compassion for Mother Earth. It also brings a deeper recognition of the extent to which we have exploited her. She provides everything we need, yet longs for us to reconnect to listen, and to heed her calls for care and restoration. She is Gaia Sophia, an expression of the Divine Mother made visible, here to nourish and guide us as we walk upon her body. Nature itself is the living embodiment of the cosmic creative life force through which all life is birthed.

The Exploitation of Animals and Mother Gaii

The abuse and exploitation of animals, sentient beings and some of the most innocent life forms on Earth is a profound stain on our humanity. It is heartbreaking to witness animals bred solely for profit, with little regard for their wellbeing or their natural bonds. Mothers are separated from their young in ways that disregard the sacredness of life and the deep emotional connections they share. They are treated as mere commodities, not the sentient beings they are. The disregard for motherhood is a reflection of the overall degradation of the feminine that has infected the planet for thousands of years and has become even more potent in recent years.

Across the food, fashion, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries, animals endure immense and often unnecessary suffering. This reflects a deeper disconnection from the web of life and a loss of reverence for life itself. Through the abuse of the most innocent, we too have lost our innocence. We share this planet with these beings, and the Mother feels the pain inflicted upon them each day. To reclaim our lost innocence, we need to heed the cries of Mother Earth.

A world in which so much suffering and bloodshed occurs is not one that honours the Mother, the feminine, or life itself. Oceans are aggressively being drained of fish and the issue of pollution has become a huge threat to the health of these oceans. In the same way our rivers and lakes are being polluted which has a devastating effect on our own health and wellbeing. Restoring our waters is a step towards restoring our own physical and spiritual wellness. Natural habitats are destroyed too in the name of greed, with forests home to many diverse species. They are cleared without consideration. The vital roles of animals, insects, and birds in sustaining ecosystems are overlooked, despite their necessary contribution to the balance that allows all life, including our own, to exist.

Sacred Womb and Hara : Gateway to the Wisdom of Sophia

The womb is not only a physical organ through which human life is birthed; it is also a gateway to the Divine Feminine. Both women and men can access this energy through their bodies, through the Sacred Womb space or The Holy Womb Chakra or, in men, through the energetic centre known as the Hara. It is the most powerful centre of our bodies.

This sacred centre is a multidimensional portal to Divine Sophia, wisdom itself and in turn helps us to reconnect to the whole web of life, to Mother Earth and all beings. Activating the womb or hara reconnects us to our soul’s truth. It is here that we can access deep clarity about who we are at the deepest level as part of this web. As we heal the layers of wounds that can be accessed in this space, we awaken compassion for The Earth and every living species in the process.

Our collective disconnection from this sacred centre has contributed to thousands of years of human suffering and disempowerment and has left most people lost. It has separated us from our divine essence, the spark of God force that lies within. As more people awaken to this truth and undertake the journey of healing, we open the possibility of creating a world rooted in harmony, respect, and compassion for all life on Earth.
