Being seen and heard is a fundamental human need, whether in our personal relationships, workplaces or on a societal level with issues that affect our way of life, livelihoods, our health and our human rights. However, many have been living as if they don’t have a right to speak.
They put up with abuse and coersive control on a daily basis. Over time, this creates a slow erosion of the self and the identity. If we are not listened to, a sense of hopelessness takes root along with a slow build up of frustration in the body that can lead to accumulated physical and emotional issues.
It can manifest as physical tension, anger which create blocks that cause stagnation in the cells of the body.It also has a detrimental effect on our energy as the sense of not being heard is exhausting. It’s like screaming into an empty landscape with no one to hear our calls for help. Many others seek refuge in addiction as a temporary relief from the wounds. Healing and transforming these layers energetically is a more positive way to deal with this stagnant energy.

A Collective Cry: When Silence turns to Protest
The protests over fuel prices and taxation across the country here in Ireland are a reflection of the extent to which people’s voices have been ignored for a long time. Some may say it is extreme but desperate situations call for desperate actions. The sense of being ignored has created a feeling of isolation and demoralisation that has left people with no other option but to come out onto the streets and motorways and demand that their voices be heard. This collective frustration has been in the air for a long time. The gaslighting from power figures has had a profound effect on people’s mental health. Truth is inverted and twisted and people had been questioning their own perception of reality until now.
The Cost of Suppressing Truth
What follows when people are not allowed to express their truth is to turn inwards, withdraw into a depression. When your feelings are not validated, it erodes self- worth. You begin to doubt yourself and start to second guess the truth that sits in your heart. The light starts to diminish and self-confidence fades. The more extreme response is to lash out in anger and while unregulated anger can harm you and others, the anger is not our enemy. Expressing outrage and pent up anger in a regulated manner is healthy as it is the body signalling that there has been a violation or an injustice carried out. As the saying goes..
“The voice of honest indignation is the voice of God”
This is an invitation to channel this anger, our passion and truth and use it to become a catalyst for change. We need to connect to our hearts and souls and allow the full flow of our outrage to be safely expressed so transformation can take place.
Ancestral Trauma: Inherited Silence

We carry the wounds from oppression in our bones here in Ireland. It is passed on via our ancestral lines.Hundreds of years and beyond of invasion and colonialism, of being oppressed has left imprints and the pain sits unconsciously in the cells of the body in particular in the heart and even deeper in the Sacred Womb space or Hara until it is cleared.
This generational trauma is inherited.Patterns are repeated over and over where people learnt to be silent. It was safer.Their needs did not matter. They accepted their lot in life thinking they deserved no less. This cycle continues until we recognise the patterns picked up from our ancestors, name them and heal these pains. As we heal our trauma by finding our voices, we are setting our ancestors free also. We reset our whole DNA.
This suppression is mirrored in the collective. Power shuts down the voices of the oppressed and dehumanises and punishes anybody who calls it out. It will continue until we recognise our sovereignty and keep calling out the oppressors.
The Myth of The Saviour
There are no saviours coming to save us despite being taught by religion that salvation is found outside us. No leaders can save us either though some cling to this hope. This belief has been deeply disempowering. The power to save ourselves is within each of us. It is about remembering it. Jesus/Yeshua did not expect us to wait for his salvation as his teaching and message for us clearly was..
“The Kingdom of God is within you”
He came to show us how to find the power within ourselves. His teachings have been hijacked and used to oppress and shame us. Also other religious hierarchies have used religious dogma to police and shut down the voices and oppress women in particular. We have the power within us and access to our own life force to stand in our power. The greatest threat to organised power structures is that we remember we have this power. That is why truth speakers are silenced as the hierarchies fear our words. What they also fear is Unity. While we are divided, we are weak and can be manipulated but united we are strong.
The Way Forward towards Healing

Challenges have a way of helping us grow and evolve if we are strong enough to commit to the process.
The unravelling has begun, the truth is being exposed, not only in Ireland but on a worldwide scale. The light is exposing the darkness and that should give us confidence to keep rising. However, it takes an enormous amount of strength to stay open-hearted ,in a space of love while doing this. What can help this is community. We got a glimpse of this sense of community during the protests, the genuine sense of togetherness and shared purpose that had not been felt for a long time. It reminded us that we are not alone. We have experienced for ourselves that when we come together in peace, we are stronger.Separation is an illusion.
“United we stand, divided we fall”
This is a call to remember your voice, to speak the truth that has been suppressed and express what you may have remained silent about for too long. Doing so, through genuine connection with others and not to divide will not only free you and heal you but contribute to healing the world.
